“DID
YOU EVER SEE A PURPLE COW?”
1993
Machine Pieced
Hand Quilted
Commercial cotton, cow bells, polyester batting
38”w x 38”l
Collection of Leonard Krepple, New York, NY
In
1993, I found some fabric that was covered with the word “moo” and since I
collect fabrics with words on them, I bought some. This
gave me the idea of purple cows. This
is a commercial cow pattern, but I have made it my own, to describe the nursery
rhyme, “Did you ever See a Purple cow?” After
making it, I quilted hearts on the cows, and little udders, as well as a sprig
of grass for each one. I found
little cowbells to hang on their necks.
