I found an old Black
& White photo (2” x 3”) that two of my great-aunts were in and decided
to make a quilt of it. I really
enjoyed making their outfits and hats! There
was a boy in the photo also, but I cut him out, I wanted this to be all about
the GIRLS!!!
This
reproduction of an old black & white photo (circa 1920’s or 30’s)
includes two of my great aunts. They
are Doris Mahannah, far left, and Mernie Mahannah, center. The girls are sitting on their suitcases, waiting at the bus
station in Kingman, Kansas. The
faces, hands, and arms are photo transferred for their exact likeness.
I really enjoyed creating their garments and hats from a variety of
fabrics.
