THERE’S A ZEBRA IN MY GARDEN©1996
Machine pieced, Hand Appliquéd
Hand quilted
Commercial cotton, cotton batting
33”w x 44”l
Collection of Jim & Linda B. Simmons, El Reno, OK
Using the traditional
cathedral window pattern, a variety of subjects are encased within the windows.
The green background run from dark green to light green, and the centers
are just the opposite, running from light to dark in color.
In
the last few years, in the quilt world, people have been making watercolor
quilts. Using floral prints, that
colorwash across the quilt, sometimes pictures are formed within these quilts. I
inserted conversational prints, as well as florals and geometrics, and some
words. A friend of mine handed me a
zebra and said, try to use this in your quilt, so I did, and thus the name.
